Mark W. Johnson, DDS

Meet Dr. Johnson – Oral Surgeon in New Bern, NC

Dr. Johnson received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee. He went on to complete a general practice of dental residency at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Johnson then completed a surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  Dr. Johnson currently holds a teaching position at East Carolina School of Dental Medicine and Vidant Medical Center teaching hospital general practice residents in anesthesia.  He is also an active staff member of Carolina East Medical Center.  He is board certified and holds diplomat status by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a Fellow in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is a former member of the examination committee for the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS).  He is past President of the NC Society of Dental Anesthesia and a Trustee and past President of the NC 5th District Dental Society. He is a board member of the North Carolina Caring Dental Professionals (current Chair).  Dr. Johnson is currently an elected member of the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners.  He has maintained a private practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in New Bern, North Carolina since 1989.

As a dedicated husband and father, Dr. Johnson has many interests outside of dentistry.  He enjoys spending time with family and his dog, Mojo.  He enjoys fishing, all salt water activities and is an avid scuba diver.  Dr. Johnson is also a gearhead, as he is a club member at the Virginia International Raceway.
